The initial deadline was set for March 17, 2026.
South Africa’s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended the period in which the Madlanga Commission must complete its work.
The commission investigating the Political Interference and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System will now submit its second interim report by May 29, with the final report expected at the end of August. The initial deadline was set for March 17, 2026.
Commission Chairperson Justice Mbuyiseni Madlanga requested the extension due to the number of people who are still to appear.
Ramaphosa appointed the three-member commission last year following allegations by Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of the infiltration of the police by criminal syndicates.
