The South Africa (SA) national rugby sevens team, Blitzboks are turning their attention to the upcoming Hong Kong Sevens after being crowned World Rugby Sevens Series champions.
Blitzboks secured the title with a hard-fought 10–7 victory over Fiji national rugby sevens team in the final in New York.
Coach Philip Snyman praised his team’s resilience, especially their defensive effort throughout the tournament.
Snyman says, “I think we set the foundation from the beginning and the way we defended throughout the whole tournament, we weren’t always as clinical, but towards the end the effort and heart were always there. In that last minute they were all over the show, a massive defensive effort from the players.”
The Hong Kong Sevens, marking its 50th edition, will run from April 17 to 19 and feature 30 teams competing across 72 matches.
