Israeli Football Association (IFA) has been fined $146 000 by FIFA and received a formal warning regarding its future conduct following an investigation into an alleged act of discrimination.
The decision comes after the Palestine Football Association filed a complaint concerning racism in Israeli football. FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee reviewed the matter as part of proceedings held during the 74th FIFA Congress in May 2024.
According to FIFA, the IFA was found to have breached Articles 13 and 15 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. Article 13 deals with offensive behaviour and violations of fair play, while Article 15 addresses discrimination and racist abuse.
In addition to the financial penalty, FIFA has instructed the IFA to publicly display a prominent banner at its next three home matches. The banner must read, “Football Unites the World – No to Discrimination”, alongside the IFA’s official logo.
