Owners of the 2026 Land Rover Defender and 2019–2021 Jaguar I-PACE in South Africa (SA) have been urged to take their vehicles to the nearest authorised dealerships following a product recall announced by the National Consumer Commission (NCC).

NCC Spokesperson Hardin Ratshisusu said the recalls are due to potential defects that could compromise vehicle safety.

For the Land Rover Defender, 60 vehicles are affected by a possible fault with the third-row lower seatbelt anchorage bracket, which may not be correctly installed. This could prevent seatbelts from functioning properly in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Meanwhile, 67 Jaguar I-PACE vehicles face a potential issue with the high-voltage traction battery pack. In certain circumstances, the battery could overheat, posing a risk of smoke or fire.

Owners in SA are advised to contact their authorised dealerships immediately to arrange inspections and repairs.
