Sixteen Kenyans are reported missing in Russia

Sixteen Kenyans are reported missing in Russia after joining the country’s army, while 47 have returned home from the front lines in Ukraine.

Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Minister, told a Senate committee that 38 other recruits are currently in various Russian hospitals under restricted access. He added that the number of missing Kenyans had risen from 10 to 16 within the past 24 hours, though it remains unclear whether they are dead or alive.

Mudavadi also estimated that around 165 Kenyans are actively involved in military operations, bringing the total number who have participated in the Ukraine conflict to more than 250.
