The military leader of Burkina Faso has told citizens to set aside hopes for democratic governance.
In an interview aired on national television, Captain Ibrahim Traoré said he has no plans to hold elections, despite a previous promise to return the country to democratic rule four years ago.
On Thursday, he stated bluntly that democracy was not suitable for the Burkinabè, signalling a further consolidation of military control.
