Over the Easter Weekend, King Mswati III during his Good Friday Speech, states that eSwatini will not embrace same-sex relationships and marriage.
Mswati described the relationship as the “spirit of Sodom and Gomorrah.”
There are also, reports that the country’s Minister of Education Owen Nxumalo warned pupils engaging in same-sex relationships that they risk expulsion from school.
The Eswatini Sexual and Gender Minorities has condemned anti-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Queer remarks made during Easter services by the King.
The Kingdom of eSwatini does not have laws that clearly prohibit same-sex relationships, apart from unofficial pronouncements from authorities.
