SA Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has released the new Protected Disclosure Bill

South Africa’s (SA) Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has released the new Protected Disclosure Bill aimed at improving protections for whistle-blowers.

The proposed law seeks to strengthen safeguards for individuals who report unlawful or irregular conduct in both the public and private sectors.

It follows findings by the Zondo Commission, which highlighted several shortcomings in the current Protected Disclosures Act, including unclear procedures, weak protections and limited support for those who come forward.

Government says the new Bill is intended to close these gaps and create a safer, more supportive environment for whistle-blowers.
