Kenya Pipeline’s women’s volleyball team has set its sights on the Africa Club Championships in Egypt, with coach Geoffrey Omondi declaring anything less than victory as falling short of the national champions’ ambitions.
The tournament, scheduled from April 11 to 24, will see Pipeline represent Kenya alongside local rivals Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Kenyan teams have a strong record on the continental stage, with Pipeline having won six African titles, while KCB secured the crown most recently in 2022.
Despite their impressive history, Pipeline has not claimed a continental title since 2005. The oil merchants finished third in last year’s edition in Abuja, Nigeria, marking their third consecutive podium finish after silver medals in 2024 and 2023.
Omondi says the team is hungry for glory and determined to restore Kenyan dominance in the competition, highlighting the strength and resilience of the squad as they prepare to lift the national flag high in Egypt.
The championship is expected to be fiercely contested, with Kenyan sides aiming to build on their continental legacy.
