South Africa’s (SA) newly established Portfolio Committee overseeing the Presidency has concluded its inaugural workshop, marking a key step in strengthening parliamentary oversight.
Committee Chairperson Doris Mpapane is expected to brief the media later this Thursday on the body’s priorities and planned areas of focus.
Among the issues likely to come under scrutiny are ongoing allegations involving President Cyril Ramaphosa, particularly relating to the reported theft of foreign currency at his Phala Phala game farm in Limpopo province.
The committee’s work is expected to play a critical role in ensuring accountability within the Presidency, as it begins outlining its oversight agenda.
