Al Ahly SC goalkeeper Mohamed El‑Shenawy has been suspended for four matches after striking a referee during a 1–1 draw with Ceramica Cleopatra FC in the Egyptian Premier League.
The 37-year-old, who was on the bench at the time, reacted angrily after Al Ahly were denied a late penalty.
In addition to the suspension, El-Shenawy has been fined 50 000 Egyptian Pounds.
The ban means he will miss most of the league play-offs and is only expected to return in the final week of the campaign.
Defending champions Al Ahly currently sit third in the championship round, five points behind leaders Zamalek SC.
