Unidentified gunmen have killed a traditional ruler in Imo State, in Nigeria’s south-east.

Police say the monarch of Ochia, Paulinus Ekwueme, was ambushed recently while travelling with his security detail.

He was reportedly returning home from a neighbouring community when the attack occurred.

Authorities say investigations are under way, as concerns continue over rising insecurity in parts of south-eastern Nigeria.
