South Africa (SA) wants to position itself as a continental leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance and innovation.
The SA government has unveiled a draft AI policy and is now seeking public comment on the proposed regulations.
The policy doesn’t just ask companies to be ethical, it also creates a formal AI Ombudsperson and an AI Ethics Board to monitor them.
The blueprint is structured around six core pillars aimed at promoting the responsible development and ethical deployment of AI.
