Government of Zambia has introduced a new law removing the option of bail for individuals accused of rape and incest-related offences

The government of Zambia has introduced a new law removing the option of bail for individuals accused of rape and incest-related offences.

The measure, which is set to take effect in April, applies to crimes involving the rape of women and girls as well as cases of incest, and is aimed at strengthening the country’s response to sexual violence.

Officials say the change is intended to help reduce such cases and ensure stricter handling of serious sexual offences in the justice system.
