Trump says that Israel and Lebanon talks will ‌take place
United States (US) President ‌Donald Trump says that Israel and Lebanon talks will ‌take place today.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the leaders of the two countries are expected to speak for the first time in 34 years, adding that he is seeking to create “a little breathing room” between them.
Meanwhile, fresh optimism is emerging that the US and Israel war on Iran could be nearing a turning point, as diplomatic efforts intensify.
A key Pakistani mediator is in Tehran, while Trump administration has signalled growing confidence in a potential agreement that could reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
Israel’s cabinet convened on Wednesday to consider a possible ceasefire in neighbouring Lebanon, according to a senior Israeli official, more than six weeks into its conflict with Hezbollah.
Lebanese officials have indicated that a ceasefire announcement could be imminent, according to the Financial Times.
Bringing an end to the fighting in Lebanon has remained one of the obstacles in previous negotiations.
