President Cyril Ramaphosa says his visit to Spain reflects the strong and growing partnership between the two countries

South Africa’s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa says his visit to Spain reflects the strong and growing partnership between the two countries, particularly in trade and investment.

Speaking at a business forum in Madrid, Ramaphosa said bilateral trade between Pretoria and Madrid reached about €2.8 billion ($3.3 billion) last year, making Spain one of SA’s fastest-growing partners in the European Union.

He described SA as an attractive investment destination, noting that Spanish companies operating in the country have created more than 20 000 jobs across sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, financial services, technology and tourism.

Ramaphosa said the two countries share a commitment to building a modern, dynamic and mutually beneficial economic relationship, with further opportunities for growth expected.
