South Africa’s (SA) Agriculture Minister, John Steenhuisen, is in Argentina to secure a continued supply of vaccines against Foot-and-Mouth disease.

Steenhuisen’s trip comes as the country works to contain an outbreak affecting its livestock sector.

He is also expected to travel to Brazil to pursue agricultural import agreements aimed at strengthening food security.

The Argentine pharmaceutical firm, Biogenesis Bago, has been supplying SA with millions of vaccine doses since earlier this year.
