The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) is set to elect a new Bureau on Thursday.
The incoming leadership will serve a three-year term under a regional rotation system.
In this cycle, the positions will be distributed across the continent’s five regions: President, in North Africa, First Vice-President in East Africa, Second Vice-President in West Africa, Third Vice-President in Central Africa , and Fourth Vice-President Southern Africa.
The Bureau is consists of President and four Vice-Presidents, representing the five regions of the African continent.
It provides strategic direction and ensures the effective functioning of the institution and its organs.
