Sudan has recalled its Ambassador to Ethiopia following serious accusations that its neighbour, alongside the United Arab Emirates (UAE), facilitated a drone strike on Khartoum International Airport.
Sudanese military officials claim they have “conclusive evidence” that the attack, attributed to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), was launched from Ethiopian territory. They also say they reserve the right to respond at a time and place of their choosing.
This is not the first time such allegations have surfaced. Sudan’s army had previously accused the RSF of launching drone attacks from Ethiopia in March. Reports from international media have also suggested the existence of RSF-linked training activity in Ethiopia, claims that Addis Ababa strongly denies.
Ethiopia has instead accused Sudan of arming and supporting anti-Ethiopian groups, while the UAE has repeatedly rejected allegations that it backs the RSF.
