In Kenya, Samson Cherargei has tabled a motion seeking to strip former President Uhuru Kenyatta of his retirement benefits, arguing that he remains actively involved in politics.

The proposal has sparked debate in the country over whether there is a legal basis to revoke the benefits of a former head of state on such grounds.

In an interview, Nairobi-based political analyst Martin Wren said the issue hinges on how Kenyan law defines political activity for retired presidents, and whether Kenyatta’s actions fall outside what is permitted.
