Nigeria’s National Assembly Alexander Temitope Ajayi says a delegation will travel to South Africa (SA) for talks with SA public representatives following recent protests against undocumented migrants.
Ajayi said the visit was urgent and aimed at opening dialogue between leaders from both countries to help find solutions to the growing tensions.
He added that SA’s Minister of International Relations and Co-operation had also held discussions with Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister earlier on Wednesday regarding the situation.
The planned engagement comes amid renewed concerns over anti-immigrant protests and rising tensions involving foreign nationals in parts of SA.
