Uganda has officially launched its campaign for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, set to take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, 2026.

The launch was held at the British High Commission in Uganda and brought together athletes, sports officials, federation leaders and media representatives as the country begins its preparations for the global event.

The initiative is being led by the Uganda Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Uganda, marking what officials described as both a celebration of Uganda’s sporting progress and a rallying call ahead of the Games.

Donald Rukare confirmed that Uganda will send a team of 53 athletes who will compete in 10 sporting disciplines.

The campaign launch also highlighted Uganda’s ambition to build on its past performances and strengthen its presence on the international sporting stage.
