Botswana and Rwanda have signed a new migration agreement allowing citizens of both countries to travel visa-free

Botswana and Rwanda have signed a new migration agreement allowing citizens of both countries to travel visa-free for up to six months, in a move aimed at strengthening African regional integration.

The announcement was made by President Duma Boko during the recent state visit of President Paul Kagame to Botswana.

Boko welcomed Rwanda’s decision to remove all visa requirements between the two countries, describing the move as an example of the kind of co-operation needed to boost mobility, trade and investment across Africa.

The agreement is expected to make travel easier for businesspeople, tourists and ordinary citizens, while also deepening ties between Gaborone and Kigali.
