South Africa’s (SA) Independent Electoral Commission, (IEC), says it has received an additional $66.7 million from the National Treasury for the 2026-2027 financial year.
The commission says it requested extra funding after identifying a shortfall in its initial allocation of $189 million.
It was briefing Parliament’s Standing Committee on Appropriations on its readiness for this year’s local government elections.
