Nigeria wrapped up their campaign at the 2026 Confederation of African Athletics Senior Athletics Championships in Accra with a fourth gold medal after winning the women’s 4x400m relay on Sunday night.
The Nigerian quartet of Esther Okon, Toheebat Jimoh, Jacinta Lawrence and Patience Okon-George stormed to victory in a time of 3:29.25.
Nigeria dominated the race from start to finish, with anchor runner Patience Okon-George crossing the line well ahead of the chasing pack. Ethiopia took silver, while Kenya claimed bronze.
It was a different story in the men’s 4x400m relay, where Zimbabwe secured gold after finishing in 3:01.08.
Kenya claimed silver and Morocco took bronze, with the Nigerian men missing out on a podium finish.
