The African Union (AU) Commission Chair, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has expressed concern over the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda.
He says the continental body is watching the developments.
The AU boss has also commended the governments of the two countries for their concerted efforts to contain the outbreaks in the region.
Ali Youssouf says the continental body stands in solidarity with the people of the DRC and Uganda.
He has welcomed preparedness measures undertaken by authorities in South Sudan as well.
The AU boss adds that they support the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention for coordinating a continental response alongside the World Health Organisation and other partners.
The continental body chief has called on member states to intensify support for preparedness, surveillance and rapid response efforts to curb the spread of the disease.
