Security forces in Uganda have raided the homes and parliamentary offices of former Speaker Anita Among as part of a widening anti-corruption crackdown led by the military.
Authorities reportedly seized luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce and a Range Rover, during the operation in Kampala.
Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the country’s Army Chief and son of President Yoweri Museveni, said the confiscated assets could be auctioned to recover public funds.
Kainerugaba also claimed he had been granted powers by Museveni to arrest anyone in the country as part of the anti-corruption drive.
The operation is seen as part of a broader campaign ordered by Museveni, who has ruled Uganda for nearly four decades. Despite the raids, Among has not been arrested.
