Tanzania and Mali have booked their places in the quarter-finals of the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, securing qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2026 after a dramatic final round of Group C action.
In the headline clash, Mali defeated Tanzania 2-1 thanks to a brace from Abdoulaye Touré, while Hassan Mkindai pulled one back late for the East Africans.
Despite the loss, Tanzania still topped the group with six points, while Mali advanced in second.
Elsewhere, Mozambique kept their World Cup hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Angola. Allan Figueiredo and Charif Carlos scored for the Young Mambas, who clinched third place and a playoff route to the global showpiece.
Angola’s campaign ended with the defeat, while Tanzania, Mali and Mozambique all remain in contention on the continental stage.
