South Africa’s (SA) Ambassador to the United States (SA), Roelf Meyer, says President Cyril Ramaphosa has tasked the country’s diplomatic team with rebuilding and strengthening relations between SA and US.
Meyer says the delegation has been mandated to engage directly with US officials and address key concerns that have affected bilateral ties between the two nations.
His remarks come after officially presenting his credentials to US President Donald Trump at the White House, marking the formal start of his tenure.
Meyer says improving diplomatic, political and economic co-operation between SA and the US will be a central focus of his mission.
