International activists and humanitarian volunteers who attempted to deliver aid to Gaza have arrived in South Africa (SA) after their mission was halted at sea.
The group says it was trying to challenge Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza and draw attention to the humanitarian situation in the territory.
One of the vessels was reportedly intercepted just 400 metres from Gaza’s coastline, with several activists later detained.
The Global Sumud Flotilla vessels are the latest in a string of attempts by activists to breach Israel’s blockade.
