Namibia Wrestling Federation has named a 35-member squad

The Namibia Wrestling Federation (NWF) has named a 35-member squad for the South African (SA) Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships, set to take place in Pretoria on May 30.

The tournament will be hosted at the Gauteng North Wrestling Hall and is expected to attract a large number of competitors across various age categories, from Under-8 to Seniors and Masters.

Namibia heads into the championships with confidence following a strong performance last year. The team won 11 medals at the senior championships, including six gold, three silver and two bronze medals. At the youth championships, Namibian wrestlers secured nine medals, made up of four gold, two silver and three bronze.

NWF Secretary General, Anke Erasmus, says the federation is optimistic about achieving another strong showing at this year’s competition.

The championships will provide an important opportunity for Namibian wrestlers to test themselves against some of the region’s best talent as they continue their development on the international stage.
