Ghanaians repatriated from SA say they are happy to be returning home
Some of the Ghanaians repatriated from South Africa’s (SA) OR International Airport on Wednesday, say they are happy to be returning to their home country.
At least 300 Ghanaian nationals boarded a flight chartered by their government as part of the government expatriation programme.
This follows a wave of protests against undocumented immigrants that have been taking place in the southern African nation.
Meanwhile authorities in Vosloorus, Gauteng Province have issued non-compliance notices to several businesses, mainly small convenience stores known locally as spaza shops and supermarkets, during a large-scale inspection operation led by Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza.
Officials say some businesses were operating with expired licences, while a number of undocumented foreign nationals were also arrested.
The operation forms part of broader efforts to enforce business regulations and immigration laws.
