South Africa’s (SA) Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has announced mixed fuel price adjustments for June, bringing a slight hike for motorists but relief for transport operators and households.
From Wednesday, June 3, both grades of 93 and 95 octane petrol will rise by 9 cents per litre. Conversely, diesel prices will decrease by between 16 and 20 cents per litre, depending on the grade.
The department also confirmed that the price of illuminating paraffin will drop by 49 cents per litre, offering vital relief to consumers using it for heating and cooking during the winter months. Meanwhile, the maximum retail price of LP gas will be reduced by 1 cent per kilogram nationwide.
Department Spokesperson Robert Maake noted that fluctuations in international oil prices and standard exchange rate movements were the primary factors influencing the latest fuel price adjustments.
