The cash-strapped South African Football Association (SAFA) has resolved to strengthen its operational co-ordination during the FIFA World Cup.

Following the visa debacle that led to Bafana Bafana having to postpone their departure for Mexico by almost 30 hours, SAFA established a three-member organising committee to manage the team’s administrative affairs during the tournament.

The head of delegation, David Molwantwa and the Chairperson of the finance committee, Mxolisi Sibam, will assist the under-fire team Manager, Vincent Ntseka.

They will ensure any logistical or administrative matters are dealt with expeditiously.

SAFA, which held an emergency meeting last night, apologised to the nation for the travel delays.

It also thanked the Department of International Relations and Co-operation and the US Consulate for resolving the visa issue.

The team will depart for Mexico at two o’clock this afternoon.
