Around 2 500 Malawian nationals in South Africa (SA) are seeking assistance to return home.
The Malawian citizens are now gathered at a community hall in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Province, citing threats and fears for their safety.
The move comes amid protests against undocumented foreign nationals, with organisers demanding they leave the country by the end of June.
SA’s Department of Home Affairs has begun registering those affected as part of plans to facilitate their repatriation.
