SA President increases Ebola response pledge to $13.5m

Ramaphosa was addressing a High Level virtual meeting of Heads of State and Government on the Ebola outbreak.
South Africa’s (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa, in his capacity as the African Union Champion for Pandemic Preparedness, Prevention and Response, says SA has increased its pledge to $13.5 million as a commitment in the fight against diseases on the continent.
Ramaphosa says the West Africa Ebola epidemic demonstrated that delayed action can transform a localised outbreak into a regional and global crisis.
Ramaphosa was addressing a High Level virtual meeting of Heads of State and Government on the Ebola outbreak. He has also called on some countries not to impose blanket and unsubstantiated travel bans and raised security concerns
