Lesotho’s jazz musicians have joined the global music community in paying tribute to legendary musician Abdullah Ibrahim.
Renowned saxophonist Bhudaza Mapefane said Ibrahim’s music has long been regarded as a benchmark for aspiring jazz artists.
However, Mapefane noted that his admiration for the celebrated musician deepened after discovering that they shared roots in Lesotho, a connection that strengthened his personal bond with Ibrahim’s legacy.
The passing of the music legend and jazz icon Abdullah Ibrahim will be celebrated across the globe as a musical giant and force to reckon with.
But to the saxophonist, Mapefane, Ibrahim was not just another jazz icon, but someone he can truly call a brother.
