Cuban revolutionary leader Ramiro Valdes, a close ally of Fidel Castro and one of the last surviving commanders of the 1959 revolution, has died at the age of 94.
President Miguel Diaz-Canel announced his death on Sunday, paying tribute to Valdes as a hero of the revolution.
Valdes fought alongside Fidel and Raul Castro from the early days of the uprising.
He went on to hold several senior government posts.
