Zimbabwe’s Senate has overwhelmingly approved a Bill that will allow President Emmerson Mnangagwa to stay in office until 2030.
It also includes provision for the president to be elected by parliament rather than by direct popular vote.
Supporters of the constitutional amendment say it’ll strengthen accountability and foster political stability.
Opponents say it’s a blatant move by Mnangagwa to hold on to power.
