The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has officially welcomed Air Europa’s inaugural direct flight connecting Madrid and Johannesburg at O.R. Tambo International Airport.
In a statement released earlier today, ACSA described the introduction of the direct route as a major milestone in boosting South Africa’s international air connectivity and expanding its global travel footprint.
The arrival marks Air Europa’s very first scheduled service into sub-Saharan Africa. Airport authorities noted that the landmark route further cements Johannesburg’s position as the leading aviation gateway and transit hub on the African continent.
The new connection is expected to significantly enhance both tourism and bilateral trade links between SA and Europe.
