The South African Council of Churches (SACC) has called for calm ahead of planned marches taking place across the country today.

Addressing the media in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, the council urged SA citizens to tackle the country’s challenges peacefully.

SACC warned against violence, hate speech and actions that could deepen divisions.

Encouraging organisers, participants and law enforcement agencies to work together to ensure that the demonstrations remain peaceful.
