The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) said late on Sunday that confirmed Ebola cases in the country had reached 1 561, including 506 deaths.
To curb the spread, the World Health Organisation and local medical authorities have initiated emergency clinical trials in the region to evaluate potential new treatments, while more than 600 patients remain in strict hospital isolation.
