The Department of Home Affairs in South Africa (SA) says the highest number of undocumented immigrants that have been repatriated so far through the Beitbridge border post in Limpopo are Malawians, followed by Zimbabweans.
Mozambicans form the third largest group of those repatriated at the border post.
The department’s Chief Director, Albert Matsaung says around 55 900 have asked for voluntary repatriation.
Meanwhile police have arrested almost 8 900 undocumented foreign nationals over the past two weeks countrywide.
Authorities say the immigration enforcement operations form part of ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and combat serious crime.
