The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has arrived in Burkina Faso for a working visit aimed at patching up relations and boosting co-operation with the Sahelian nation.
Upon his arrival, Youssouf was received by Burkinabé Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo. The high-level meeting focused on strengthening ties between the continental body and Ouagadougou, particularly when it comes to tackling the security crises and development challenges gripping the region.
The visit highlights the AU’s current push to engage in deeper consultations with its member states, with Youssouf noting Burkina Faso’s long-standing history as a vital part of the continental bloc.
