Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has paid tribute to former acting President Dr Guy Scott, describing him as a dedicated public servant following his burial at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka.
Scott, who served as the country’s interim leader for three months in 2014 following the death of President Michael Sata, passed away at the age of 82 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
His passing marks the loss of one of Zambia’s most distinctive political figures. Appointed Vice President in 2011, Scott made history in 2014 when he temporarily assumed the presidency, becoming Africa’s first white head of state in 20 years.
He was laid to rest at a solemn service in the capital, attended by dignitaries, political leaders, and members of the public who gathered to honor his contribution to the nation’s political landscape.
