Electricity and Energy Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa
Electricity and Energy Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa say South Africa’s (SA) next Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), will mark a decisive shift from planning to implementation as government seeks to secure long term energy security while driving economic growth.
He was speaking during the SA China Electricity and Energy Investment Conference in Beijing.
Ramokgopa says the updated blueprint is intended not only to determine the country’s future energy mix, but to serve as a catalyst for industrialisation, investment and job creation.
He argues that with load shedding largely brought under control, the focus must now shift towards building an energy system capable of meeting future electricity demand.
