Reports have emerged urging the South African (SA) and Zimbabwean governments to help find a solution for those living with HIV who are struggling to access treatment in their home country.
Many Zimbabwean nationals living with HIV had been receiving free antiretroviral (ARV) treatment at public clinics in SA.
This is in line with the country’s constitutional guarantee that “everyone has the right to have access to healthcare services.
Access to ARV treatment in Zimbabwe has become increasingly difficult after negotiations between the United States and Zimbabwe over future US funding for HIV and other health services collapsed in February.
