The Casual Workers’ Advice Office (CWAO) in South Africa (SA) says anti migrant sentiments is intensifying in the Gauteng Province.
It’s been more than a month since March and March protested against undocumented foreign nationals and CWAO says the situation is still extremely serious.
The office says it has recorded a number of related incidents including 112 workers who reported being dismissed, suspended or prevented from working because of work permits.
This includes asylum documents, Zimbabwean Exemption Permit permits, spousal visas or other immigration documentation.
