Incoming SADC security Chair Dr George Chaponda urges regional unity

Malawi’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr George Chaponda, has called for stronger regional dialogue and solidarity to tackle persistent security challenges facing Southern Africa.

Speaking in Durban, South Africa at the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit, Chaponda, the incoming chair of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation, highlighted that ministerial engagements provide a critical platform to address threats to regional stability.

He noted that regional stability requires swift, coordinated, and African-led responses grounded in respect for national sovereignty, the rule of law, and the well-being of citizens.
