The Southern African Development Community (SADC) remains actively focused on political and security developments in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Madagascar, working closely with both nations to secure long-term stability.
Addressing the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation in Durban, South Africa, SADC Executive Secretary Elias Magosi warned that sustainable economic development across Southern Africa is impossible without lasting peace and security.
Magosi noted that while the region remains largely peaceful despite global uncertainties, targeted interventions are still required in specific member states.
He added that discussions at the ongoing 46th SADC Summit are expected to further reinforce the regional bloc’s commitment to safeguarding peace across the region.
